Animal Health & Safety
This guidance explains the limits of Orrio’s animal identity and health-record tools. The current website collects waitlist registrations; product descriptions show what we are developing, not a promise that every feature is available.
For an animal-health emergency, contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary service immediately. Do not wait for an Orrio reply, reminder, record update or QR scan. Our support inbox is not an emergency service.
1. Veterinary care comes first
Orrio is a software project, not a veterinary clinic. Website information, reminders, record summaries and product demonstrations do not provide an individual diagnosis, prescription or treatment plan. Ask a qualified veterinarian about your animal’s health, medication, vaccinations and suitability for travel or activities. Do not delay care or change treatment because of something shown in Orrio.
2. Records need context
An animal record can be incomplete, outdated, entered incorrectly or attached to the wrong animal. Check the animal’s identity, record source, date and supporting documents before relying on it. If a record conflicts with veterinary advice, ask the treating veterinarian to resolve the discrepancy. Keep access to original records and essential contact details outside Orrio.
3. Verification has limits
Where future features show a signature or verification status, that status must be read with its stated scope. A valid digital signature can help establish the source and integrity of a record; it does not independently prove that every underlying clinical statement is correct, that the animal is currently healthy, or that the record satisfies a legal requirement. Check expiry and revocation status and the issuing professional’s authority where relevant.
4. Digital identity and travel documents
An Orrio profile, QR code or digital passport is not, by itself, proof of ownership, a government registration, an official pet passport or an animal-health certificate. It does not replace legally required microchipping, vaccination records, professional certification or border documents. Confirm requirements with your veterinarian, carrier and destination authority before travel, adoption or transfer.
5. Reminders and access
Future reminders may depend on information supplied by users or clinics, device settings and service availability. Maintain your own care schedule and confirm due dates with your veterinarian. Do not treat a missing alert as evidence that no action is needed. Internet access and digital records may be unavailable when needed.
6. Share animal records carefully
Only share information you are authorised to share. Before using a future QR or sharing feature, review exactly what a recipient can see; shared animal records can also reveal personal information about owners or professionals. Never post another person’s contact details or clinical documents publicly without an appropriate basis.
7. Professionals and organisations
Veterinary professionals remain responsible for clinical judgment, professional duties and records they issue. Clinics, rescues and shelters must verify identity, obtain necessary authority and follow applicable animal-welfare, recordkeeping and transfer requirements. Software does not replace those responsibilities.
8. Report a concern
For incorrect records, suspected misuse, security concerns or a problem with this website, contact support@orrio.app. Avoid sending unnecessary personal or clinical information in your first message. We may need further information to investigate. For urgent animal care, contact a veterinarian directly.
